Before booking, you'll want to choose the right dumpster size, understand what's included in your rental, and know which materials can and can't be disposed of. The sections below walk you through everything you need to know so you can rent with confidence and avoid surprises.

2. How Our Rental Process Works

Renting a dumpster is quick and straightforward. From booking online to final pickup, our goal is to make the process as simple as possible.

1. Book Online

Choose your dumpster size, select your preferred delivery date, and submit your reservation request online in just a few minutes.

2. We Review Your Order

We'll verify availability and typically approve reservations within 15–30 minutes during business hours.

3. Delivery

We'll deliver your dumpster on the scheduled day. Need a specific placement? Leave detailed instructions or upload a photo when booking.

4. Fill Your Dumpster

Every standard rental includes 7 days and an included weight allowance. Need more time? Let us know before your scheduled pickup.

5. Pickup & Final Invoice

We'll haul your dumpster away and process it at the transfer station. If your load exceeds the included weight or additional disposal charges apply, we'll notify you. If you're within the included weight, you're all set.

3. Understanding Dumpster Pricing

Why Included Weight Matters

When comparing dumpster rentals, don't look at the rental price alone. The total value of a rental depends on several factors:

A dumpster with a lower advertised price may include less weight or a shorter rental period, resulting in a higher final cost depending on your project.

Before booking any dumpster, compare the rental price, included weight, rental period, and additional fees—not just the advertised price.

How Overage Charges Work

Most customers never exceed their included weight allowance. If your dumpster weighs more than the included amount, only the additional weight is billed.

Additional weight is billed at $180 per ton and prorated based on the actual overage.

After pickup, your dumpster is taken to the transfer station where it is weighed and processed. Once processing is complete, we'll notify you if any additional charges apply.

4. What Can I Throw Away?

Most household, construction, and renovation debris can be safely placed in one of our dumpsters. If you're unsure about a specific item, contact us before loading it.

When in doubt, just ask. We'd much rather answer a quick question before loading than have you discover an issue at pickup.

5. Special Disposal Items

Certain items require additional handling, disposal fees, or prior approval due to local disposal requirements.

Mattresses & Box Springs — $30 Each

Mattresses and box springs are accepted with an additional $30 disposal fee per item due to transfer station requirements.

Appliances Containing Refrigerant — $25 Each

Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and other appliances containing refrigerant require special handling and are subject to an additional $25 disposal fee per item. Please contact us before disposal if you are unsure whether an appliance contains refrigerant.

Tires — $25 Each

Tires require separate recycling and are subject to an additional $25 disposal fee per tire.

Electronics

Some electronics may require separate recycling depending on local regulations. If you are unsure whether an electronic item can be placed in the dumpster, please contact us before loading.

Heavy Materials

Concrete, brick, dirt, asphalt, gravel, and similar materials can become extremely heavy very quickly. If your project involves heavy debris, contact us before booking so we can review the appropriate dumpster size and loading requirements.

Every standard Black Bear dumpster rental includes the essentials you need to complete your project.

Delivery & Pickup

We'll deliver your dumpster on the scheduled day and return for pickup when your rental is complete.

7-Day Rental

Every standard rental includes 7 days. Additional rental days are available for $10 per day, subject to availability.

Included Weight

Only additional weight beyond the included amount is billed.

Online Booking & Customer Portal

Book online, receive confirmation, view your reservation details, and manage your rental through your customer portal.

7. Driveway Placement & Protection

We take care when delivering every dumpster and will make reasonable efforts to place it in your preferred location when site conditions allow.

Placement Instructions

Need the dumpster in a specific location? Leave detailed placement instructions during checkout or upload a photo showing where you'd like it placed. Final placement remains subject to safe access and site conditions.

Driveway Protection

Dumpsters and delivery equipment are extremely heavy and may cause damage to driveways or other surfaces. We recommend that customers provide appropriate protection to help reduce the risk of unwanted damage.

If you are unable to provide driveway protection or have concerns about your driveway or placement area, please contact us before delivery to discuss available placement options.

Clear Access

For safe delivery and pickup, make sure the placement area and access route are clear of:

• Parked vehicles
• Low tree branches
• Basketball hoops
• Utility wires
• Other obstacles

Important to Know

Dumpsters and delivery vehicles are heavy equipment, and every property is different. If you have concerns about your driveway, underground utilities, septic system, landscaping, or placement location, contact us before delivery so available placement options can be discussed.

8. Rental Length & Extensions

Every standard dumpster rental includes 7 days, giving most homeowners plenty of time to complete a cleanup or renovation project.

Need More Time?

Additional rental days are available for $10 per day, subject to dumpster availability. Extensions are not guaranteed because the dumpster may already be reserved for another customer following your scheduled pickup date.

If you expect your project may take longer than 7 days, we recommend adding extra rental days when booking to secure the full rental period.

Finished Early?

Completed your project ahead of schedule? Let us know and we'll arrange an earlier pickup whenever possible.

9. Do I Need a Permit?

In most cases, a permit is not required when a dumpster is placed entirely on private property, such as a driveway. Requirements vary by municipality, however, and the customer is responsible for determining and obtaining any required permits or approvals.

Private Property

A permit is typically not required when the dumpster is placed on your own driveway or other private property with adequate access.

Street Placement

If the dumpster must be placed on a public street, sidewalk, parking area, or public right-of-way, your municipality may require a permit or other approval before delivery.
